I am a Fabricaholic, Enabling Others

I am a fabricaholic and I'm not afraid to admit it! No, I don't want treatment. I'm perfectly happy reveling in my fondness for fabric. Even better, my mom and fellow quilter, is an enabler. (Although many times the roles are reversed and she's the fabricaholic and I'm the enabler.  We take turns.)

Usually I sate my fabric appetite by buying 1/4 or 1/2 yards of a wide variety of fabrics. Being primarily a scrappy quilter, this system works most of the time. However, last night I came upon this beauty at Joann.com.

I tried to put it out of my mind, but I couldn't. I'd go back and look, thinking to myself it couldn't possibly be as yummy as I thought. Instead, with each visit I became more convinced I had to have it. It didn't help that my mom sat right beside me agreeing that the fabric in question was indeed delicious. It didn't help that I had an online coupon for 50% off one full priced item that was due to expire today. What little willpower I had melted away.

So I just bought 4 yards of a fabric that I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with!

As a good fabricaholic and enabler, here is the list of Joann coupons that are good until the end of today (7/10/10): (You can use only one of them per order.)

50% off any full-priced item: EFD191
10% off your total purchase: EGD191
$5 off a purchase of $35 or more: ERD191

  1. I have absolutely no will power when it comes to seeing fabric I like. Half my stash is fabric that I have no idea what I am going to make with it.

  3. I also am a fabricaholic - but at least I'm in good company! I love quilting because I get to play with fabric! That Joanns fabric is gorgeous - I've been impressed with how much better their fabric in-store is - still not much in the way of designer fabric, but at least the prints are getting more modern. I can't wait to see what you make with your find!

  4. I guess I am a rarity in the quilt world I really do not buy a lot of fabric - I have a lot of bins of scraps though - whenever I do buy fabric I normally buy a half yard to a yard extra so I have the just in case of a mistake thing going. I decided at the beginning of the year that I would only buy backing and backgrounds and I have done really well with that.

  6. Gorgeous! In a way I'm glad quilting fabric stores don't excist here, or else I'd been begging on the street! lol! I love fabrics and buy it from the US, don't even dare think of how much I've spent on shipping! I have so much fabrics, but not much of each. Usually I buy half yard, but lately I have purchased more neutrals like tone-on-tone cream, white etc in yards... My latest craze are batiks.... sigh! :)

  7. Ha, ha! I loved the enabling bit at the end of this post. I like JoAnn's fabrics too. Some people are 'fabric snobs' and will only buy from an actual quilt shop, but I think that JoAnn's has a lot of great stuff and I don't mind using it in my quilts. Besides, they always have great sales and coupons going on that the quilt shops don't have. Can't wait to see what you use this pretty fabric for.
