A Flock of Fairies

Historically, I've not been a big fan of panels.  It's not that they don't look great, but somehow I always felt that I was cheating if I used them.  However, when I found the fairy fabric, I had to have it.  It was simply too adorable to pass up.  I had no use for it at the time I bought it, but life has a way of taking care of those issues.  My cousin and his wife are having a baby girl in April.  Fairies for a little girl.  Perfect!

I finished the flimsy last Saturday.  I'm quite pleased.

  1. That is adorable! I love the sashing with the pinwheels. It really sets it off (that pink with polka dots strip--how fun!). They are going to love it!

  2. That's really adorable, Michelle! I used a larger panel of the second one in your second row for my granddaughter when she needed a nap quilt for preschool. Love those fairies!

  4. Michelle! That is SO cute! I love the colors you used and the way you arranged the sashing and the pinwheels. Pinwheels are awesome, just as a side-note. Such a cute quilt. I agree with you on the panels. It does feel like cheating. But those fairies are so sweet! That is a really great quilt top!

  9. Oh, if I could have found that fabric for my first granddaughter, I'd have jumped at the chance as her mom was really into fairies then. You've taken the panel and made it an adorable quilt. Those pinwheels and sashings are perfect!

  15. I too have felt like panels were cheating but lately I have seen some that are pretty darn nice - I guess they have their place in quilting also.
