Another Friday has rolled around and it's time to join Shay over at Quilting in my Pyjamas for another Favorite Things Friday. Yay!
My favorite for this week? Bejeweled Blitz.
Yep, a mindless time waster if there ever was one. That said, sometimes it's great to simply take a break from life ~ even quilting ~ and indulge in some meaningless relaxation. Nothing like watching virtual jewels blow up to get me into full relax mode.
I was playing the game alone on the version I have on my home computer, but I've since discovered that it is possible to play against other people through Google + and Facebook. For the last several weeks I have been competing against my cousin-in-law, Eric, through Google +. Week after week, I'd pull ahead only to watch him trounce me and prevail before the week's end. Last week, however, I finally got my turn in the winner's circle. Losing for weeks on end made that win all the more sweet. (Oddly enough both of our scores for that week were lower than in previous weeks, so go figure.)
After playing on Google +, I finally rejoined Facebook in order to play there. (I'm not a big fan of Facebook. I prefer more in depth communication over the blurbs posted on Facebook. But hey, that's just me.) It appears I'm taking this serious time waster to a new level!

Ooh! Looks addicting. ☺ Woo-hoo on the win. Great FTF! Happy Friday! ☺
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I have played Bejeweled on Nick's iPhone while we were waiting for my daughter at an appointment. It was fun, though I needed him to coach me on what to do for starters. It sort of reminded me of the Marbles game of a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to be able to trounce the competition! :)
I'm practising will power as I type this post because I already play three games that suck my time into a vortex never to be seen again. I don't need another one !
ReplyDeleteMaybe I could just take a little look....
Congrats on kicking Eric's arse.
Interesting that both yours and Eric's scores were lower this week. I've suspected when playing games that they go through a spell of being easier and others being harder. Or maybe both you and Eric are just losers this week. :)
ReplyDeleteI confess to wasting lots of time on the computer and with my nose in a book....I'm not even going to let myself investigate!!!! I have no more time to lose. :)
ReplyDeleteI spend way too much time on the computer as it is., but I love the idea of just having some relaxing downtime and playing a game.
ReplyDeleteI play Bejeweled 2 Deluxe on the Endless variant - I like that it's impossible to lose. Unfortunately, it's also therefore pretty much impossible to win, though I hear that after 2200 hours the score goes into a negative, and that indicates victory.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll ever win.
That's one of my favorites too. I play Bejeweled Blitz, Scrabble, Texas Hold 'em on FB. I don't even use it for anything else now. I read a few posts, but that's about it. I have to restrict myself to how many I play .. I usually say three games at a time, but with my total lack of willpower I end up playing at last six.
